Gold Adventurous Journey
Welcome to the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey section, congratulations for making it this far! If you are a direct Gold entrant, welcome on board! You are showing real growth and determination to complete something that demonstrates your ability to commit to something challenging and see it through.
At Gold level the requirements to complete the adventurous journey are:
- Practice Journey – 1 day and 1 night
- Qualifying Journey – 4 days and 3 nights with at least 8 hours of purposeful effort each day
To make a booking select an event from the calendar and follow the process.
Minimum number of participants for an event to go ahead is 6.

Gold Adventurous Journey
Gold Training and Practice Journey
This combined Training and Practice event is a two-day skills intensive trip that will include a short walk into a hut or campsite, with the main focus being development of skills to prepare you for your Qualifying Journey. You can expect these days to be active, engaging and hands on!
Our experienced instructors will make use of teaching and learning opportunities throughout the trip, and the curriculum will be flexible depending on the needs of the group. You may also have opportunities to cement your learning and practice leadership by teaching others. At the end of the trip, your instructor will give you a personalized report so you know what to focus on in your further Qualifying Journey preparation.
Transport from Auckland is included in the cost of this trip.

Gold Qualifying Journey
Students must have completed Gold Training and Gold Practice Journey before undertaking their Gold Qualifying Journey.
For your final adventurous journey you plan and execute your own trip! Your qualifying journey must be planned as a group.
We'll connect you with an instructor to have a planning meeting in order to establish where it is want to go and to help you with planning logistics, transport and a route plan. You must book in at least one month before your trip so you have time to plan.
One of our experienced instructors will be with your group on the journey to ensure safety, but your group will be operating independently and managing themselves!
This journey you plan should be a challenging tramp to make a fantastic finishing of your Gold award! There are a lot of amazing four-day tramps that you can complete throughout the North Island! Get in touch if you're looking for ideas :)
